SOCIOPLASTICS AT 11K — URBANISM · SPATIAL OBSERVATION · EVERYDAY CITY · CHANNEL: CiudadLista · AUTHOR: Anto Lloveras · INSTITUTION: LAPIEZA-LAB · LOCATION: Madrid, Spain · YEAR: 2026 · FIELD: Urbanism / Spatial Observation / Everyday City

URBANAS, founded with Paula Lloveras, extended this practice into an urbanism-and-art studio. Its work has ranged from research series in Málaga to urban and architectural competitions in Madrid, Norway, Sweden and Moscow, including public-space, landscape and urban-block proposals in which spatial design is treated as a cultural and civic instrument. Cities are normally described through plans, statistics, photographs or stories. A long urban corpus introduces another possibility: the city can be read through thousands of small observations that remain individually addressable while accumulating into a larger spatial memory. Across eleven thousand nodes, Socioplastics has repeatedly returned to streets, thresholds, buildings, infrastructures, routes, neighbourhoods and peripheral conditions. No single entry explains the city. Their recurrence begins to show how urban knowledge is assembled. The useful scale is not always metropolitan. A bench, a doorway, a shaded route, a service area, a vacant plot or a repeated journey can reveal arrangements that disappear in conventional overview. At the same time, the 110 Books and 11 Tomes prevent those fragments from becoming isolated anecdotes. They keep local observations attached to a much larger comparative field. This long reading also changes the role of movement. Walking and travelling are not merely ways of reaching research sites; they are instruments that sequence evidence. The body encounters continuity, interruption, distance, exposure, comfort, memory and difference in an order that a map alone cannot reproduce. Repeated movement across cities produces another kind of archive: one made of situated comparisons. City After City I–V (2026) gives this urban reading a rigorous temporal spine. Its episodes distinguish seven-day serial observation, extended and frugal field continuity, unequal urban exposure, a provisional fifty-year movement reconstruction, and the design of future comparisons. The method never implies that a brief visit is equivalent to prolonged return. Cafés de Embajadores (2018–2024; preprint 2026) and El Bar Español como Infraestructura Social (2014–2026; preprint 2026) offer a complementary grain: ordinary interiors and repeated uses as evidence of commercial and social change. CiudadLista can hold both scales without forcing them into the same unit. The structural index below is therefore also an urban index. It allows a small spatial event to remain small while giving it a place inside an eleven-thousand-node field. CiudadLista reads that accumulation as a method for keeping the city open to further interpretation. FULL PROJECT INDEX
