Iturra Muñoz treats photography not as illustration of an already-known city but as a methodological device for discovering what urban categories conceal. Working from architectural education and visual ethnography, the article argues that statistical and morphological abstractions often lose the everyday relations through which urbanity is actually produced. Its central operation is therefore a transfer of method from anthropology to architecture: photographic practice is made reflexive, iterative and attentive to the observer’s implication in what becomes visible. The city is approached as an unfinished field of relations rather than a stable physical object, and experience becomes the point at which material urbanisation and lived urbanity meet. Repetition, trial, re-framing and visual representation are presented as epistemic acts rather than merely design skills. The article bridges architectural observation, ethnography and urban theory by showing how photographs can produce questions about habitation, mobility and place that would remain unavailable to a purely formal reading of the built environment.
